Have you visited these 5 places in Kushtia?

Kushtia is a district rich in literature and culture, deeply connected with the legacy of Baul king Lalon, Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, and Mir Mosharraf Hossain, the author of Bishad Sindhu. If you wish, you can explore these historical and notable landmarks of Kushtia in just two days.

Lalon Sai’s Shrine

One of the most popular attractions in Kushtia district is the Lalon Akhra, also known as Lalon Sai’s Shrine, located in the Kumarkhali upazila. The shrine is built around the tomb of the legendary mystic, Lalon Fakir. Every year, two grand fairs are held here—one during Dol Purnima (the full moon festival) and another on the 1st day of the Bengali month of Kartik. Devotees from across the country and abroad gather to pay their respects during these times.

You can easily reach Lalon Akhra from Majampur Bus Stand in Kushtia within just 20 minutes.

Rabindranath Tagore’s Kuthibari

Rabindranath Tagore’s Kuthibari is one of the most iconic tourist attractions in Bangladesh. Located in Shilaidaha Union of Kumarkhali Upazila, around 15 kilometers from Kushtia, it is easily accessible by auto-rickshaw from Chourhash or Majampur in Kushtia.

The Kuthibari spans over 33 bighas of land, with the main building covering about 2.5 bighas. The house has 18 rooms of various sizes, beautifully designed and surrounded by gardens and a pond. Tagore lived here irregularly for almost a decade while managing his zamindari (landlordship). Many of his personal belongings are still preserved here as historical artifacts.
